Sustained Contributor Award


The Sustained Contributor Award honors an IECA member who has displayed exceptional dedication to the organization and has significantly enhanced the erosion and sediment control industry over an extended period. Recipients of this award will have exemplified leadership through their substantial and enduring contributions to both IECA and the erosion and sediment control sector. These contributions may include involvement in education, government initiatives, research, standards or policy development, or technological advancements. The recipient must be an active IECA member, with a minimum membership tenure of 10 years, and must participate in the 2025 IECA Annual Conference and Expo. Nominations are now open through 18 October 2024.


Judging Criteria

  • Leadership by Example (15 points): Does the individual demonstrate leadership through their actions and achievements?
  • Contributions to IECA and Profession (20 points): Is the individual recognized for their leadership contributions to IECA and the erosion and sediment control profession? 
  • Technical, Policy, and Administrative Contributions (15 points): Is the individual acknowledged for their technical, policy, and/or administrative contributions to IECA and the erosion and sediment control profession?
A total of 50 points are available. Nominations must achieve at least 50% of the available points in each judging criterion and at least 75% of the overall points to qualify for the award. Additional points are awarded for the number of years as an IECA member.

Mandatory Content

  • Exceptional Service and Leadership (Maximum 1600 words): Describe the individual’s outstanding service and leadership within IECA and their contributions to advancing the erosion and sediment control industry.
  • Background Information (Maximum 1600 words): Provide background information on the individual, similar to a professional resume or curriculum vitae, including current employment, professional accomplishments, personal achievements, professional involvement, and community service.
  • Professional References: Include two professional references. References cannot be from family members of the nominee. Awards committee representatives may contact references during the review process.

Optional Content

Nominators may include optional content to highlight the individual's attributes and further support the nomination. Optional content allows the nominator to strengthen the case for the award.

The technology sessions, networking opportunities, and friendships I've built have been crucial to my success as an erosion and sediment control planner, inspector, and trainer.
