Young Professionals Committee

Committee Description/Purpose/Objectives

The Young Professionals Committee (YPC) is responsible for developing and implementing programs, member benefits and education directly benefiting younger professionals in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • The Young Professionals Committee recruits and meets with IECA members under the age of 35 to foster career growth. 
  • The YPC will support the IECA Mentor/Mentee program in examining the execution and maintenance of the program. These duties include soliciting members to participate in the program, identifying standards for pairing, appropriately pairing mentors/mentees, and overseeing program reporting. The mentorship program is intended to support the needs and desires of the younger Association members and the mentors who dedicate their time to coaching young professionals.  More information on the mentorship program is available through IECA Connect . 
  • Committee members are expected to participate in bi-monthly committee meetings.
  • The Young Professionals Committee is relied upon to determine what upcoming young leaders to invite to the yearly Emerging Leaders Alliance (ELA) Conference.
  • Committee members are expected to provide updates to chapter boards to support young members on a regional level.

Goals

  • The YPC committee will support the advancement of young professionals in the industry to take an active role in IECA and its chapters.
  • The committee will connect, develop and empower students and young professionals to be successful in their industry careers.

Meetings/Reports

  • Committee meets bi-monthly via teleconference and face-to-face at the Annual Meeting.
  • During the Annual Meeting, the YPC Committee will discuss strategic planning and implementation for the following year's program.
  • Committee activity shall be included in a report prepared annually for the Board of Directors by the staff liaison and approved by the Committee Chair.

Membership /Qualifications/Term of Service

Committee members must be current IECA members and their membership must remain in good standing throughout the duration of their serving on the committee.

Structure and Bylaws

Committee size should be 3-5 members, including the Chair. The committee is Chaired by a member appointed by the President of the Board of Directors and serves a three year term. Committee members are appointed by the Committee Chair.
